Name of dead suspect in home invasion released
Menominee — The name of a 19-year-old home invasion suspect who was fatally shot by a homeowner in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has been released.
The EagleHerald reports Hayden Gagnon of Pulaski, Wisconsin, died of multiple gunshot wounds after a break-in was reported about 5 a.m. Monday in Menominee County’s Mellen Township.
On Wednesday, 19-year-old Matthew Franjose and 20-year-old Thomas Hartman were arraigned on home invasion charges. A probable cause hearing was scheduled for Nov. 24. Neither suspect had a lawyer at the hearing.
Authorities say the 62-year-old homeowner called 911 and deputies arrived to find the other suspects in the woods nearby. Sheriff Kenny Marks says the homeowner “defended himself and his home.”
Prosecutors plan to review the case to determine if the shooting was justified. The homeowner’s name hasn’t been released.
