2 Detroit firefighters hurt battling blaze
Detroit — A firefighter was hospitalized Monday night and another was injured battling a blaze on the city’s northwest side.
The department responded to a fire in a commercial building at Eight Mile and Stansbury where one firefighter suffered moderate smoke inhalation just after 8 p.m.
“He was transported to (Sinai) Grace Hospital,” Chief Dale Bradley said. “We don’t have any update on him.”
Another firefighter injured during the blaze remained on duty, according to Bradley.
The department remained on the scene until around 7 a.m. Tuesday.
There were no other injuries reported and the building, a store selling hardware and furniture, was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
