— With winter’s early arrival in Metro Detroit, Lions safety Glover Quin helped provide some protection Tuesday to hundreds of needy residents.

Quin and staff members from Operation ABLE of Michigan distributed more than 2,000 coats during a Clothes4Souls event at the Service Employment Redevelopment facility on Michigan Avenue.

At another event Tuesday, more than 1,000 Detroit students were given new winter coats, hats and gloves through Fifth Third Bank’s Gift of Warmth program.
