The Detroit News

Woodhaven — One person was hospitalized after a vehicle collided with a train early Wednesday, according to police.

The crash happened around 6 a.m. at the railroad tracks on Allen just north of Van Horn.

“We had a vehicle with two occupants going northbound on Allen Road and they had a collision with a train,” said Sgt. Francis Zdankiewicz.

One of the vehicle’s occupants was taken to a hospital with injuries not expected to be life-threatening, Zdankiewicz said. The second occupant did not need medical attention.

Allen and Van Horn roads currently are closed while police investigate.

“It could be awhile,” Zdankiewicz said after 7 a.m. “It just depends on the condition of the train and if there’s any damage.”

Further details about the crash were not immediately available.
