Highland Park Police are looking for a man who abducted and sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl earlier this month.

“The child is doing okay and is back home with family,” said Detective Brian Menge. “We are appealing to the public to help us identify this person of interest.”

Menge said the girl was on her way to school Dec. 10, when the man abducted her at gunpoint and forced her into a vacant house on Church Street, near McNichols and John R., between 7:45 – 8:15 a.m.

The suspect is described as being more than 6 feet tall and weighing between 160-180 pounds. He is possibly in his mid to late ‘20s and has pitted skin in his cheek areas.

Anyone with information can call the Highland Park Police at (313) 852-7338 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line, 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
