Detroit police seek car connected to woman's slaying

The Detroit News

Detroit police have released video of a car wanted in connection with the slaying of a 22-year-old woman at Christmas.

The make, model and year of the vehicle is unclear from the brief clip. But investigators hope the footage could generate tips leading to possible suspects in the killing of 22-year-old Christina Samuel.

Police have said Samuel was talking with a friend inside a gray Chevrolet Impala parked south of Eight Mile near Gratiot around midnight Dec. 25 when two men approached the car. One was armed with a long gun; another had a handgun. Both were in a black Nissan Altima and fired several shots, police said.

Samuel's friend, a 24-year-old man, also was shot, but only injured.

Police said the motive for the shooting is unclear.

Anyone with information can submit an anonymous tip through DPD Connect, available through Apple and Google Play stores, or call Crime Stoppers at (800) SPEAK-UP. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 for information about the shooting.

The youngest of nine children, Samuel graduated from Detroit's Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School in 2010 and earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Indiana Tech.

Dozens of relatives and friends attended her funeral Saturday at Miracle of Faith Ministries in Eastpointe.
