Teen shot outside Detroit dollar store dies
Detroit — A 15-year-old boy who was shot in the head while standing outside of a dollar store on Wednesday has died, according to police.
The incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m. at the Family Dollar Store near Joy and Evergreen. According to police, the unnamed victim was shot after he exited the store after purchasing a pair of gloves.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he later died.
Police quickly tracked down the suspected shooter several blocks away and found the 18-year-old hiding under a vehicle. A weapon was also recovered.
“Patrol officers responded to the scene and used their investigative skills to locate the suspect,” Sgt. Eren Stephens said Thursday.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is awaiting possible charges from the Wayne County Prosecutors Office.
Police are trying to determine the motive behind the shooting.
