4 charged in murder of Westland woman
Four men have been charged in connection with the death of a 46-year-old woman whose body was found on the side of a road Monday in Dearborn Heights.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Terrance Harold Johnson, 44, of Westland with one count of first-degree murder. Randy Demario Batts, 30, of Detroit is charged with one count each of first- and second-degree murder.
Joshua Hurston-Herron, 23, of Detroit and Michael Richard Bashlor, 34, who is transient, each are charged with one count of accessory after the fact.
At 5 a.m. Monday, Johnson allegedly fatally beat Diedra Akins 46 in the home they shared in the 32000 block of Grand Traverse in Westland. Batt allegedly assisted Johnson, police said.
Hurston-Herron and Bashlor helped Johnson and Batts take Akins’ body from the home, dumping her in Dearborn Heights, according to a news release Thursday from Worthy’s office.
Johnson and Batts were arraigned and returned to jail. Hurston-Herron and Bashlor were arraigned and each received $250,000 bonds.
The men return to court Jan. 29 for a probable cause hearing. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Feb. 5. before 18th District Judge Mark McConnell.
