All lanes of southbound Interstate 75 were reopened shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday after crews repaired a 4-foot-wide hole on the Rouge River Bridge.

The hole, which officials said was likely caused by normal wear and tear, went completely through the pavement.

“You could see all the way down,” said Ryan Bridges, Wayne County spokesman.

There were no injuries as a result of the hole.

Three of the four southbound lanes were closed for the repair.
