Allen Park — Westbound Interstate 94 at Oakwood reopened Thursday afternoon after police, fire and HAZMAT officials cleaned up a massive fuel spill that closed the lanes Wednesday night.
No one was injured in the crash that occurred 11:45 p.m. Wednesday when a truck driver lost control and smashed into a retaining wall, which caused the truck to roll and then leak about 11,000 gallons of diesel fuel.
The crash, in an area between Oakwood and just past the M-39 intersection, caused fuel to leak into the interchange, MDOT officials said. Police also closed ramps from the Southfield Freeway to I-94.
All lanes and ramps reopened by 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
