Detroit — A young boy has been reunited with his mother after he was found wandering the city’s east side Sunday, according to police.

The boy was reunited with his mother Sunday evening, said Officer Sandra Whitfield.

He was found at 3 p.m. Sunday in the area of Linnville and Somerset, police said. The temperature was 6 degrees with a minus 5 windchill, according to the National Weather Service.

The boy was not communicating well but police said he may be named Fred or Franklin.

No further information was available on how the child got away from his mother. Child Protective Services is handling the investigation, Whitfield said.
