Detroit — Police have released video footage they say shows an unknown suspect committing armed robbery at a florist on the city's northwest side.

The suspect entered the Thrifty Florist on the 23800 block of Grand River Avenue at 2:05 p.m. Monday, police said. He requested assistance from the female cashier and then placed his hands in his pockets as if he was armed.

The suspect then demanded money from the cash register. In the video, the cashier led the suspect into a back room, where he took an undisclosed amount of money from a small plastic bin. He also took the victim's wallet, police said.

The cashier then led the suspect out of the store. Police said the suspect fled eastbound on Grand River in a small black vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described by police as a black male around 45 years old, 5-foot-9 with a slim build, dark brown complexion, bald head and large cyst on his upper lip. He was wearing a black trench coat and black pants.
