Redford Township — How to go from red shorts to an orange jumpsuit in one easy step: fire a gun.

Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy after he allegedly fired a gun into the air outside a home Wednesday after getting into an argument with an acquaintance.

Police didn’t have a hard time spotting him since he was wearing only a pair of red shorts in 32 degree weather.

“At about 9:20 a.m. we received a call about a disturbance in the 19100 block of Centralia, which is near Beech Daly and Seven Mile,” said Capt. James Turner. “It turned out the suspect had fired a shot outside of a home in that area. We captured him outside very close by. No one was injured, and it turned out that the suspect and the victim know each other.”

Turner said they were not looking for any other suspects in the incident, which is still under investigation.
