Detroit — An early morning fire has destroyed a church building on the city’s west side.

The fire department was called at 1:53 a.m. Thursday to the vacant church near Interstate 96 and Mack Avenue, said Chief Dale Bradley.

WXYZ-TV reports the church, which had been converted from a house, was destroyed by the fire.

No injuries are reported and no one was believed to be inside the building at the time, Bradley said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
