Trenton man, 65, was strangled to death
Trenton — The death of a 65-year-old man on Wednesday was declared to be a homicide by ligature strangulation, according to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office.
The body of George Hite was found at about 9:30 a.m. inside the Westwood Condominiums where he cared for his elderly mother.
Police responded to the condo on a welfare check after receiving a call from Hite’s mother saying no one was answering the phone at their home.
Hite was well-known and liked in Trenton where he served as an umpire and coach with the Little League Association for 50 years. Hite was inducted into the Lincoln Park Hall of Fame and served as an umpire in the Little League World Series in Pennsylvania.
