Plymouth attorney named to Wayne County Commission
A Plymouth attorney has become the latest addition to the Wayne County Commission.
Joe Barone has been appointed by county commissioners to fill a vacancy created by the departure of Shannon Price, R-Plymouth Township. Price was in his second two-year term on the commission.
The commission accepted Price’s resignation and appointed Barone to the 15-member body at its meeting Thursday.
Barone will represent the commission’s 10th District, which includes Canton Township, Plymouth and Plymouth Township. His term runs through Dec. 31, 2016.
“I look forward to working with each of my new colleagues in the days ahead to serve each of our Wayne County communities to the very best of our abilities,” Barone said in a statement.
Barone, 43, is managing partner of Barone Law Offices PLC in Plymouth.
Price resigned from the commission to become Plymouth Township supervisor earlier this month. Richard Reaume, the township’s previous supervisor, retired.
During Thursday’s commission meeting, Price told commissioners he enjoyed working with each of them, but he has “a tremendous opportunity” in front of him.
“It’s a bittersweet moment for me,” Price said in a statement.
He also said he supported Barone’s appointment as his successor.
