Along a path dotted with paper butterflies bearing uplifting notes, supporters took part in an anti-bullying walk and fundraiser Sunday in memory of Courtney Hood, who committed suicide at 15.

Courtney's parents, Jim and Beckie Nicksich, led the fundraiser at Heritage Park in Taylor, which sought to draw awareness to the consequences of bullying as well as provide support to parents and victims. Courtney, from Southgate, died Aug. 15, 2013.

Organizers urged walkers to "take a stand against nasty words, hurtful names and being made to feel as if being different is something to be ashamed of!"
