Services include screenings for breast and cervical cancer, hepatitis and cholesterol and glucose; information about colon cancer; tobacco prevention; and a pharmacist consultation.

“Through culturally appropriate and bilingual services, ACCESS is offering a wide-spectrum health fair ... for individuals and families,” said Hiam Hamade, ACCESS health center’s chronic disease prevention programs supervisor, in a statement.

The second health fair is 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the People’s Community Services of Metropolitan Detroit Hamtramck Center and features Jewish, Muslim and Christian physicians and health care professionals.

Free medical screenings will be offered. Education stations with health brochures will be available at the clinic and social workers will assist with referrals to service agencies.

“People of different faiths who may have significant differences on substantial issues can find common ground,” said Robert Cohen, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council.

The event is being organized by the Jewish Community Relations Council, the Michigan Muslim Community Council and the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit.
