Westland — A man was arraigned this week on armed robbery charges after he hit the same dollar store two days in a row, police said.

Larry Gene Burke, 42, allegedly robbed the Dollar General Store at 37376 Glenwood Road on June 13 and June 14, police said. Officers observed Burke walking in the area and determined he matched the description of the suspect.

Burke allegedly had evidence of the crime in his possession when he was taken into custody on June 14, police said. Sgt. Robert Wilkie on Thursday declined to specify the type of evidence.

Burke was arraigned Tuesday on two counts of armed robbery in 18th District Court. He received a $100,000 bond.

A second man also was taken into custody June 14 after he gave Burke a ride away from the scene, Wilkie said.

“Initially it was thought that he was an accomplice, but later it was found that he did not have knowledge of the robbery and (he was) released that same day,” Wilkie said.

The man was not charged with any crime, police said.
