Plymouth Township — A teenager and her adult boyfriend will stand trial separately on charges they plotted to kill members of her family.

Michael Rivera, 23, heads to trial Monday. The trial for Roksana Sikorski, 15, is set for Oct. 26.

They are charged with attempted murder and conspiracy. Sikorski is charged as an adult. Her parents say she and Rivera were lovers.

Prosecutors say Sikorski stabbed her brother Oct. 17 in their Plymouth Township home. Police say Rivera guided the girl from outside the house, advising her on which knife to use.

Leslie Posner, Sikorski’s attorney, said the girl’s family believes she suffers from traumatic stress syndrome and other disorders as a result of being in an abusive home before she and her younger brother and sister were adopted 10 years ago from Poland.
