Police: Mom with stolen gun arrested for WCCD threat
Detroit — A woman carrying a stolen, loaded gun was arrested Friday after authorities said she threatened violence at Wayne County Community College’s downtown campus, authorities said.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the woman was trying to enroll her son in courses at the school and became enraged when he was asked to come back on Monday.
The woman allegedly threatened school officials, saying: “I’m gonna blow this (expletive) up,” the sheriff’s office said.
Campus security officers were called and sheriff’s deputies arrested the woman after a brief search.
According to the sheriff’s office, the woman was asked if she had any weapons and said she had a pocket knife. But when deputies searched her purse, they found pepper spray and a loaded .25-caliber pistol.
Authorities say the gun was stolen out of San Jose, California.
The woman could be charged with terroristic threats, concealed-carry violations and possession of a stolen firearm.
No other details were immediately available.
