The northbound Southfield Freeway exit ramp to Interstate 96 has reopened to traffic hours after a truck knocked down a freeway sign.

The Michigan Department of Transportation announced at 5 p.m. that the roadway has been cleared.

Wayne County had blocked the ramp as MDOT conducted a bidding process for repairs after a dump truck pulled the sign down around 1:30 p.m., Diane Cross, a spokeswoman for MDOT said.

The closure affected the exit ramp that leads to both eastbound and westbound I-96.
