Redford Township — A 44-year-old Redford Township man was charged Thursday in the killing of a 46-year-old woman.

Dexter Lamar Williams was arraigned in 17th District court in Redford Thursday afternoon on first-degree murder and mutilation of a dead body charges, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Just after 2 p.m. Monday, township police did a wellness check on Ann Marie Gorup of Redford Township at her apartment on the 25000 block of Five Mile. They found dismembered body parts and blood throughout the apartment.

According to police, Gorup got into some kind of a dispute with Williams, who then stabbed the victim.

Williams, who was living at the apartment at the time, was still there when police arrived. He was arrested at the scene.

The murder charge carries a possible life sentence, the mutilation charge is a 10-year felony.

Williams’ probable cause hearing is 9 a.m. Oct. 6 and his preliminary examination is 9 a.m. Oct. 13. He is being held in jail.
