Woman in custody following Harper Woods shooting

Harper Woods — A 25-year-old woman is in custody and expected to face charges in an early morning shooting Saturday on Roscommon which a Detroit man was wounded, police said.

Police Chief Jim Burke said officers responded to the 20000 block of Roscommon about 12:34 a.m. on the report of a man lying wounded and bleeding in the street.

Police learned the victim's friends had taken him to an area hospital where he was described as in serious condition with a non-life threatening wound. The investigation also pointed to a Harper Woods woman suspected in the shooting. The woman was taken into custody and was being held by police pending a warrant, possibly for assault with intent to commit murder.

The reason for the shooting was not disclosed by police who released no other details Saturday.
