Harper Woods — A 25-year-old Harper Woods woman was arraigned Monday on assault charges after she allegedly shot a man early Saturday, according to the police department.

Rachael Paluch is accused of shooting a 42-year-old Detroit man around 12:34 a.m. Saturday on the 20000 block of Roscommon, police said. Officers responded to the area to a report of a man lying wounded and bleeding in the street, Police Chief Jim Burke said.

Police learned the victim's friends had taken him to an area hospital. He is listed in stable condition with a non-life threatening wound.

Investigators on Saturday quickly located and arrested Paluch and recovered a rifle from her residence, police said.

She was charged in 32-A District Court with assault with intent to go great bodily harm less than murder, felonious assault and felony firearm, police said. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.

Judge Daniel Palmer on Monday set bond at $30,000 cash or surety. Paluch is due back in court Oct. 28 for a probable cause hearing.

Police did not disclose a possible motive for the shooting.

Anyone who may have information regarding the shooting is asked to call police at (313) 343-2530 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP.
