Scholarship created as anniversary of Paige Stalker’s death slaying nears
Grosse Pointe Woods — A scholarship is being created in memory of a 16-year-old girl who was fatally shot last year.
Seniors at University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods decided to create the scholarship honoring Paige Stalker, who would have graduated from the school this May.
The Paige Stalker Scholarship is the senior class gift of her classmates.
Jennifer Stalker says in a statement Tuesday that it’s “a very special way” to honor her daughter’s memory as the anniversary of her death approaches.
Police say the Grosse Pointe Farms teen was in a parked car Dec. 22 with friends on Detroit’s east side when a man opened fire, killing her. No charges have been brought. Stalker’s family has joined others dealing with similar tragedies, going door-to-door to help solve cases.
