Taylor — A pregnant shoplifting suspect who blamed police for a stillborn birth has failed to persuade an appeals court to restore her lawsuit.

Shenika Parchman, who was nine months pregnant, claims a Taylor officer treated her roughly during an arrest at a Meijer store in 2011. A week later, she gave birth but the boy did not survive.

The appeals court last week said “no reasonable juror” could conclude the officer harmed Parchman or violated her rights. The court notes Parchman had trouble identifying the officer during a deposition in the lawsuit.

Detroit federal Judge Denise Page Hood dismissed the case in January.
