Report: Driver killed in wrong-way crash on I-94
A wrong-way driver was killed early Friday on Interstate 94 in Harper Woods, according to reports.
The woman was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser just after midnight, traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when she struck another vehicle near Allard Avenue, according to WWJ-AM (950). The other motorist was driving in the correct direction.
The wrong-way driver was transported to St. John Hospital where she was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.
It is unclear if alcohol or drugs contributed to the incident. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results as well as the findings of a crash investigative unit.
Eastbound I-94 was closed for about three hours following the crash, according to the report. The investigation remains ongoing.
