Taylor — A Wayne County commissioner will host a public forum on religious tolerance on Tuesday.

The free, 6 p.m. event, organized by Commissioner Raymond Basham, D-Taylor, will be held at in the city council’s chambers at Taylor City Hall, 23555 Goddard Road.

“There have been many public declarations against certain religions recently, especially in the most controversial presidential race in recent memory,” said Basham, who represents Brownstown Township, Flat Rock, Rockwood, Taylor and Woodhaven. “Having so many different faiths — and the ability to practice the religion of your choice — is what makes our country great. We can learn and benefit from each other through civil discussion.”

The forum will feature a panel discussion with religious leaders on the diversity of faith in the region, media coverage on religion and more.

For information, call Basham’s office (313) 224-0876 or email rbasham@waynecounty.com.
