A semi-truck traveling westbound on Interstate 94 in Romulus jumped the median early Friday, spilling around 100 gallons of fuel into the roadway near Detroit Metropolitan Airport, according to Michigan State Police.

The truck went airborne from the westbound lanes, landing in the eastbound lanes around 6:15 a.m. on I-94 near Merriman Road, officials said in a statement. Crews responded after a 911 caller reported the crash.

“Backup (eastbound) 94 west of Merriman due to reported accident,” airport officials tweeted just before 8 a.m. “The Merriman exit is blocked and alternate route is advised.”

No one was injured in the crash, officials said. The roadway will remain partially closed Friday morning as Romulus Fire Department officials work to manage the spill.
