Michigan State Police are looking for tips after a 28-year-old man was shot in the buttocks late Sunday night while walking in Inkster.

The man was walking westbound on the 26100 block of Dunning, which is east of John Daly and south of Michigan Avenue, about 11:25 p.m. when a dark-colored Dodge Charger with three men in it pulled up. Someone inside the car shot the man once in the buttocks before driving away, police said.

The victim is in stable condition at Oakwood hospital, police say, and says he doesn’t know why anyone would want to shoot him.

The special investigative section of Michigan State Police is handling the case; MSP has investigated all shootings and homicides in Inkster since 2011.

Police ask anyone with information to call MSP at 855-MICHTIP, or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 800-SPEAK-UP.
