A 2-year-old girl is in critical condition Friday afternoon after she fell into a neighbor’s pool in Dearborn, according to police.

Around 10:25 a.m., a homeowner in 2600 block of Boldt called emergency responders after noticing the girl in the pool, police said. The homeowner performed CPR until emergency personnel arrived.

The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was in critical condition Friday afternoon.

A preliminary investigation shows that the child and her 3-year-old brother left the home and both climbed over the fence into the neighbor’s yard, according to police. Their parents were sleeping the time of the incident.

“It appears the 2-year old victim was able to climb the pool ladder and into the pool,” police wrote. “The homeowner looked out her window and saw the child in her pool, immediately pulled her from the pool, and began administering CPR.”

The 3-year-old was uninjured.

Police continue to investigate.
