Detroit police are seeking tips from the public to find a suspect they say robbed a woman at gunpoint on the city’s west side.

The young man approached the 55-year-old woman as she left a store in the 19400 block of Schoolcraft at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, trying to sell her sunglasses, authorities said.

When the woman refused to buy them, “the suspect produced a handgun, put it to her side and took her purse, which was on her arm,” investigators said.

The suspect fled, but he was captured on camera.

Police described him as an African-American in his late teens or 20s, with a light complexion, 6-foot-2, 150 pounds, brown eyes, short black, braided hair, and a goatee.

He was last seen wearing a tank top and navy basketball shorts; he was armed with a black handgun.
