Father’s Day ended on a sour note for three men in Redford Township, leaving one shot and another arrested after a dispute between family members turned violent, Sgt. Kevin Crittenden of the Redford Police Department said Monday.

The shooting took place about 5:05 p.m. Sunday on the 10000 block of Mercedes, Crittenden said.

Two men, family members, were arguing at a family gathering.

A third man, also part of the family, tried to intervene in the argument, Crittenden said. For his efforts as a peacemaker, he was shot.

The victim, 22, was transported to a local hospital and was in stable condition when police last saw him.

The alleged shooter was arrested and remains in police custody, Crittenden said.
