Two people were hit in a drive-by shooting in broad daylight in Inkster on Monday, Michigan State Police said.

The shooting took place about 5:30 p.m. on the 4100 block of Williams.

A man was standing in the space of an open door of a van parked in front of a home when someone inside a blue vehicle, traveling south on Williams, started shooting in his direction as it approached, police said.

The man was hit in the foot. A woman sitting in the back seat of the van was hit in the ankle. Their injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.

According to state police, witnesses say the vehicle carrying the shooter is a royal blue, four-door car. Its occupants continued south on Williams, east on Lehigh, and police aren’t sure where it went after that.

State police are not giving ages for retaliation concerns, said Lt. Mike Shaw of Michigan State Police.
