Man sought in Redford Twp. carjacking

Redford Township police are seeking tips to find a man they accuse of carjacking a woman at a grocery store Tuesday night.

The incident was reported outside the Spartan Foods near Beech Daly and Grand River at about 8:30, police said in a statement.

The man was armed with a knife and fled with a 2014 gray Ford Focus, Michigan license plate number 1LMW93, investigators said.

The victim was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, Police Lt. Al DiPrima said.

Authorities are continuing to search for the man, who they described as white, in his mid- to late 20s, 5-foot-10, with a slim build, brown hair, blue eyes, a mustache and crooked teeth. He also had tattoos on both arms and was last seen wearing a black shirt, gray shorts and gray shoes with purple laces while toting a backpack.
