Ex- swim coach sentenced to probation in sexting case
A former Allen Park High School swim coach was sentenced Tuesday to three years probation in a sexting case involving a female swimmer.
Tyler Card, 26, appeared before Third Circuit Court Judge David Groner for sentencing after pleading guilty in May to felony charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes and using the internet to communicate with another to commit a crime.
Card, of Southgate, must register as a sex offender and receive sex offender treatment, according to court officials. He also must not have contact with the victim. As a registered sex offender Card cannot live or work with 1,000 feet of a school.
According to officials, Card sent sexually explicit text messages to a 15-year-old team member between February and March 2015.
The messages, sent via the app Snapchat, included requests for the girl to send nude photos, according to the school district.
