Bank robbery suspect arrested after dye pack explodes

A suspect was arrested Monday afternoon during a bank robbery in Harper Woods in which a dye pack exploded irritating several police officers, employees and customers, officials said.

According to the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety, police arrested the female suspect from Macomb County, during the 2 p.m. incident at the Citizens Bank at Vernier and Beaconsfield.

Officers were on the scene as the suspect tried to leave the bank. She was armed with a knife, police said.

“A dye pack did explode inside the bank causing several officers, customers, and employees skin and lung irritation,” police said. “...The suspect also attempted to rob a customer at knife point during this incident.”

The suspect is being held on multiple felonies without bond.
