All lanes of the Southfield Freeway were clear in both directions Friday night after earlier flooding closed segments of the freeway, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

MDOT reports all lanes of the southbound Southfield Freeway have reopened at Grand River after they were closed down due to flooding.

Northbound Southfield Freeway at Warren in Dearborn has also reopened, according to the MDOT traffic map.

Meanwhile a flood advisory from the National Weather Service has expired for central Wayne County. The notice came as the area experienced a downpour of heavy rain.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of thunderstorms throughout Southeast Michigan Friday night with wind gusts to around 30 miles per hour. There could also be thunderstorms for the area Saturday.

The weather service advises motorists not to drive through flooded roads.
