A 65-year-old Hamtramck man is facing multiple charges after an alleged assault on a minor at a Canton mosque, police said.

The alleged assault occurred on Aug. 9, and police began investigating the next day. Canton police are being tight-lipped on the details of what occurred, other than the victim of the alleged assault is a juvenile, and that the alleged incident took place at the Masjid Bilal mosque, on the 1500 block of North Ridge.

During the course of the investigation, the suspect, Hobibur Rahman, turned himself in, police said. He was arraigned at 35th District Court on assault with a dangerous weapon, a felony; and aggravated assault, a misdemeanor.

Rahman was released on a $10,000 personal bond, and has a probable cause conference scheduled for Aug. 26 at 35th District Court.
