A man was shot early Tuesday in what may have been an accident involving alcohol, according to Westland police.

The man, whose age was not disclosed, was discovered around 2:30 a.m. inside a home on the 2600 block of Christine, north of Michigan Avenue near Wayne Road, police said. He had a single gunshot wound and was rushed to Oakwood Main Hospital where he was in stable condition.

Another individual at the home was taken into custody as a suspect, police said. Investigators are attempting to determine if the shooting was accidental.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the incident. It is not yet clear what charges may be filed against the suspect.
