Butterfield Township — Authorities have identified a 71-year-old man who was accidentally shot and killed at a cabin in the northern Lower Peninsula by his older cousin.

The Grand Rapids Press reported Tuesday that Gerald Burgeson was on a three-wheeler Monday evening and crossed in front of a target being used by 74-year-old Ronald Dunn of Livonia for shooting practice.

Burgeson of Metamora in Lapeer County and Dunn owned the cabin in Butterfield Township. Authorities say they used the cabin southeast of Traverse City for hunting.
