An armed man sexually assaulted a store employee during a robbery last week, according to Westland police.

The suspect entered an unidentified business around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 9 near Wayne and Palmer, officials said in a statement. He then threatened an employee with a weapon and demanded money.

After he received cash, he sexually assaulted the employee before fleeing in the victim’s vehicle.

The car was later recovered nearby, police said.

The suspect is described by police as a heavy-set man, 6-foot to 6-foot-2 and 250-300 pounds. He had a scruffy beard and was wearing a black T-shirt, gray gym shorts and a black cloth over his head.

Police on Friday released a sketch of the suspect and asked the public for help identifying him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Westland Police Department at (734) 722-9600 or Detective Boucher at (734) 467-7956.
