Death of Inkster child, 3, ruled homicide
The death of a 3-year-old boy found with injuries early Thursday has been ruled a homicide, according to the Wayne County Medical Examiner Office.
Tyme Smith died of multiple blunt force trauma, authorities said Friday.
Officers were called to Garden City Hospital at about 10:15 a.m. Thursday on a report of a child undergoing treatment in the emergency room for severe injuries, investigators said in a statement.
When officers arrived, they learned the child had died, according to the release.
On Thursday, Inkster police took the boy’s father, a 41-year-old Inkster man, and the man’s girlfriend, 21, into custody for homicide charges, police said.
Authorities are continuing to investigate.
