Man linked to sex assaults to face trial in Allen Park

The 32-year-old Redford Township man authorities suspect is responsible for a series of home invasions and sexual assaults was bound over Monday for trial in connection with a case in Allen Park.

Ikeie Smith is charged with first-degree home invasion and first-degree criminal sexual conduct stemming from a July 2015 incident. He is due back in court Oct. 31 before Wayne Circuit Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway.

A calender conference for the eight Wayne County cases Smith is charged in is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 4.

Smith also is charged in connection with alleged home invasions and sexual assaults of Redford Township women in 2014 and 2016. Additionally, Smith was bound over for trial on two Dearborn Heights cases of home invasion and sexual assaults for incidents in 2013 and 2014. He also is charged with breaking into the apartment of an Inkster woman and punching her in the face before fleeing in 2011.

In Garden City, Smith has been charged with first-degree home invasion, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct for in 2014 and first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Authorities suspect Smith in as many as 35 home invasions and sexual assaults. He was arrested Sept. 7 by a task force of local and federal law enforcements agencies following a tip on a Livonia case received by Dearborn Police.
