The Hamtramck couple accused of causing the death of a 16-month-old girl has been formally charged in connection with the crime.

Christopher Scott Olinger, 23, and Asia Markham, 27, were arraigned Saturday in 34th District Court in Romulus on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree child abuse.

Maria Miller, a spokeswoman for Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy, said there is no bond for the murder charge and the two are held at the Wayne County Jail.

She also said the two are scheduled to appear Nov. 10 for a probable cause hearing and a preliminary examination hearing the following week.

Authorities said police were summoned to the couple’s home in the 2600 block of Commor in Hamtramck at 11:32 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers arrived and found Markham outside of the home, holding her baby, Amina, who was unresponsive, according to authorities.

Emergency medical technicians transported the infant to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
