In the sixth fatal car crash in Lincoln Park since June, a female pedestrian was killed crossing Southfield Road, police confirmed.

The crash took place about 6:25 p.m. near the intersection of Southfield and Washington. A 40-year-old Lincoln Park resident was crossing Southfield Road when she was hit by a Ford Edge driven by a 37-year-old Wyandotte resident.

The driver of the Ford Edge is cooperating with police, a statement on the incident said, and authorities do not believe alcohol was a factor.

Some 922 people have died in car crashes in Michigan in 2016, according to figures released Tuesday by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
