A sergeant with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office faces felony charges after he allegedly had inappropriate sexual conduct with a minor relative for six years, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Thomas Arthur Pedersen, 48, of Wayne County is expected to be arraigned in 33rd District Court before Judge Michael K. McNally in Woodhaven on Thursday on three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under 13 years of age and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

“It is alleged that between 2010 and November 2016 the defendant engaged in an ongoing pattern of inappropriate sexual conduct with a relative,” the prosecutor wrote in a statement Wednesday.

Kelly Miner, spokeswoman for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, would not disclose Pedersen’s employment status as of Wednesday.

Pedersen joined the agency in September 1995 and became a sergeant in 2012, Miner said. He worked at the William Dickerson Detention Facility in Hamtramck.
