Redford Township police are investigating after a U-Haul truck crashed into a Michigan Secretary of State office early Wednesday morning.

The truck backed in through the front windows of the Secretary of State branch office on the 25700 block of Joy Road, off Beech Daly, about 5:30 a.m. At this early stage, it is unclear if anything was taken, said Capt. James Turner of the Redford Township Police Department.

The truck has been removed and impounded, but no arrests have yet been made.

Gisgie Gendreau, a spokeswoman for the Secretary of State, said the office would be closed on Wednesday and encouraged people to use ExpressSOS.com, where many popular transactions done at branch offices can be handled, or to choose a nearby branch location.

There are three nearby alternatives for users in that part of Wayne County, a search of the Secretary of State website revealed: a branch at 6090 Wayne Road in Westland, another at 26603 Michigan Avenue in Inkster, and another at 5094 Schaefer in Dearborn.
