Former clerk faces 30 days in jail for embezzlement
The former Grosse Pointe Woods court administrator has pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement by agent, trustee, or employee over $20,000, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday.
Julie Ann Moore, 46 was formally charged last month with embezzlement by an agent or trustee for $20,000 or more but less than $50,000, embezzlement by a public official for over $50 and larceny in a building on allegations that she mishandled court funds.
Moore will be sentenced to 30 days in jail. The prosecutor’s office said Thursday she can be released upon payment of $22,566 in restitution and court costs. As part of the count of larceny by a public official and one count of larceny in a building will be dismissed.
According to the court records and a Grosse Pointe Woods official, the case stems from irregularities involving court funds that were discovered in August.
Moore was terminated in September. The investigation in the case was handled by the Michigan State Police.
